Standing at a height of 170 m (555 ft), Washington Monument represents the world's tallest structure made entirely from stone. Constructed in two stages between 1848 and 1884 as a memorial to George Washington, the monument at the time of its completion briefly seized the crown as the tallest building in the world. See the view for yourself by taking the tower's elevator to the top, where you'll find a small museum and a sweeping panorama of Washington, D.C. To ensure that you get to see the interior, reserve tickets ahead of time online (for a fee), or pick them up in person for no cost at the monument's lodge nearby. It is impressive from the outside but even more amazing inside. The views are spectacular. Timed entry tickets are required. We were unable to secure them online because they sell out so quickly..... more

This was well-organized from the start. Where to go, based on our entry time, was clearly marked outside the monument. National park staff and volunteers were present letting us know how long it...

Really cool spot worth a visit. Elevator ride up and down gives you a quick history lesson which then continues throughout the visit as there are plaques with information and the workers are always happy to answer any questions. It wasn't too crowded which was really nice as well. Only thing is to be prepared to wait outside before being able to enter. Definitely book in advance. Security checks also required upon entry.

This monument is impressive and amazing to visit the grounds are really clean, a lot security around. Great place to walk around, ride a bike, relax, take pictures and/or have lunch from the food trucks. The structure is magnificent piece of Art, the monument is more beautiful in person, I definitely recommend it to anyone. The Washington Monument is an obelisk within the National Mall in Washington, D.C., built to commemorate George Washington, once commander-in-chief of the Continental Army (1775–1784) in the American Revolutionary War and the first President of the United States (1789–1797).
