Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, New York, is the final resting place of numerous famous figures, including Washington Irving, whose 1820 short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" is set in the adjacent burying ground at the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow. Incorporated in 1849 as Tarrytown Cemetery, the site posthumously honored Irving's request that it change its name to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

  • One of my absolute favorite places to visit especially in the fall. The views are absolutely beautiful and the history is so interesting! I’ve been multiple times and highly recommended!

  • Excellently maintained and beautiful historic cemetery. If you go during Fall it is pretty busy so I would highly recommend early morning. Early morning is the best chance for a visit without lots of people walking around and obstruction of your photos. Such a beautiful, peaceful place with gorgeous plots and mausoleums.
  • a beautiful and historic cemetery to visit any time of the year. the last time I visited was on Halloween. honestly I would say this would be the worst day to go because it was full of families and tourists taking Halloween pictures. but if you're looking for a nice stroll with some stunning old grave stones, this is a awesome place to stop.
