Yankee Doodles, Santa Monica

-Closed- 2.5 Stars. Yankee Doodles sounds like a colonial times name. Either it was named by a pre-schooler or by some British Soldier that doesn't like Americans. Despite the name.. might as well try it. The restaurant is pretty much 80% bar and 20% restaurant. Although the place was packed on a Sunday during football season, we still waited about 30 to 45 minutes for a table of 4 because of the limited seating. The food was not bad. I got a large rack of ribs. I didn't get a great vibe that I would expect from such a large bar/ lounge. I didn't really see any sports fans or hear any yelling or cheering. I don't know how to describe it, but that is odd. Maybe people in Santa Monica just eat aren't sports fans. We were seat in a area without any TVs.. BOO! After eating, I thought it would be more alive downstairs in the pool area, but it was also pretty quiet. Downstairs was pretty awesome with projectors hanging on the walls. It would be great place to party if there were more people and a better vibe. We manager to get a pool table right away. A server walked right past us and never came back. I know we are Asian. Maybe she thought we look cheap. Maybe she wasn't racist, but I'm pretty sure everyone else got served. We were gonna order beers, but decided not to after the server ignored us. The food was pretty good, but not amazing. The atmosphere was meh and killed most of the stars.

Sat outside and enjoyed listening to the street musicians. Had the Broadway Burger which tasted great. Maybe a bit to many tables in too small space outside.
