Plaza de César Chávez is a 2.3-acre (9,000 m²) park in Downtown San Jose, California, USA, named after César Chávez in 1993 (originally it was called "The Plaza", then "Pueblo Plaza"). It is surrounded by South Market Street, across which is The Tech Museum of Innovation, the San Jose Museum of Art, the Circle of Palms Plaza and the Fairmont San Jose Hotel. At the south end is the statue "Plumed Serpent" by Robert Graham. At different times of the year it hosts live music, cultural festivals, arts and crafts fairs, food shows, the official city Christmas tree, water fountains, and open-air theater. There are free concerts in the park every Thursday during summer, the San Jose Jazz Festival has its main stage in the park, and every winter from Thanksgiving until New Year's it hosts the Christmas in the Park. The Plaza was established when San José moved from its original location on the bank of the Guadalupe River to the current downtown location in 1797 and has been in use ever since, making it the oldest public open space in California.Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , world travel planner Edition.

This place was such a disappointment- it literally is the dullest central square that I've ever seen in a city. It was also full of shady characters with no buzz about it and nothing to do.

Great holiday event for the young and old. Ice rink with the tree lighting and several programmed events makes it a great time for a family outing. Everything from a community stage for small event...

You have to pay for safe skating. This place looks cool, sounds cool but when is enough going to be enough. Paying extra to skate safe should not be charged for the kids, or teens. I am extremely disappointed. Trying to make the Holidays special is at a extremely high cost. I wanted to do one nice thing for the kids and it ended up being too much just for an hour in a half. Sorry I don't recommend coming here. Almost everyone here is hanging on the edge. But for them to actually enjoy it you must pay more. First and last.

Came down for the San Jose tradition Christmas in the Park. I’ve been coming to Christmas in the Park since I was a child, and have made it a part of my Holiday ritual. Thank you to the volunteers that come out at work in these cold temperatures just to help give a little joy back to our City.
