Aptly named, Sunset Cliffs Natural Park features 2.4 km (1.5 mi) of sandstone cliffs in hues that mirror a golden sunset along the Pacific Ocean. For some of the best sights, take the coastal trail along the boulevard to reach rocky hills, sandy arches, and coves. At the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Ladera Street, you can take the stairs down to the beach during low tide. The 28 hectares (68 acres) park connects with Point Loma Reserve, a protected coastal habitat. An absolutely beautiful spot to visit. I advise you go around 6pm just in time to watch the sunset. Grab a bite to eat to bring or a bottle of wine , sit on the cliffs and relax.

The trails here are limited, but they are ok for a quick walk and for sunset views. The real gem is going down the stairs at low tide and exploring. There are plenty of tide pools with little creatures, small beaches to enjoy and relax, and a lot of hidden gems in the way of sea caves and rock formations that are only exposed and accessible during very low tide. Definitely worth the trip. Go about an hour or two before sunset to explore, and then catch the spectacular sunset and views of the area!

Cannot recommend this place enough! Make sure you go well before the sunset if you want to get a good parking spot. But you can easily park in the neighborhood as well. Parking is free even in the lot! I love to take dinner out here or picnic on the beach. NOTE: it is kinda hard to get down to and back up from the beach from the path you can take closest to the entrance of the park. Not sure if there are other entrances that don't require climbing down a rock face.
