Visit the wildlife oasis and see and interact with animals from the four corners of the world at Sacramento Zoo. From red pandas to penguins, the modest-sized zoo is home to a variety of animals, all living in spacious habitats. The zoo layout caters to its youngest visitors, allowing kids to go easily from one habitat to the other and ensuring children in strollers have a good view of the animals. For a small fee you can take part in giraffe feeding, which takes place twice a day and is one of the zoo's main attractions. If you get tired of walking you can hop on a train, or take a break by having a snack or visiting the gift shop. Honestly the Sacramento zoo is embarrassing. By comparison the Oakland zoo has the same entrance fee but it’s so much nicer and bigger. The Sacramento zoo is probably 25% as big as the Oakland zoo...

I haven't been here in over 20 years but the kids and I enjoyed our time. Most of the animals were lively and visible. There was enough variety for the kids to enjoy the whole experience. This was their first zoo trip and there were enough places to see and it wasn't too much of a walk for them. My son enjoyed all the dinosaurs that they put all over the zoo. Seeing him in awe over the very large scale reptiles was enough for him.

It's a nice zoo. Small and quaint. Nice to be able to get outside, walk around the zoo, and enjoy the sunny weather. My husband and I don't have children, but this zoo has many areas where children can let out their energy and excitement as they see the various animals. The gift shop had beautiful wooden ornaments. We try to find an ornament at each place we visit to commemorate the adventure. The zoo's gift shop had several to choose from, and they were all beautiful. We weren't there very long, but we did pack snacks in case we needed a snack. Luckily, reinforcements weren't needed this time. Hope you enjoy your visit.
