The National Historical Fire Foundation is a museum dedicated to the historical preservation of firefighting equipment used through the years around the world.
The museum's artifacts were originally the private collection of George F. Getz Jr., who opened the original Hall of Flame in Wisconsin in 1961. Getz moved the museum to Phoenix in 1974.
The museum has five exhibit bays and the National Firefighting Hall of Heroes gallery. The equipment is grouped as: Hand & Horse Drawn ; Motorized Apparatus ; Motorized Apparatus ; Motorized Apparatus and Wildland Firefighting. It also has a large collection of Fire Department arm patches.
It is in Phoenix, Arizona at 6101 East Van Buren St across from the Phoenix Zoo and adjacent to the Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
The name is a play on words on "Hall of Fame".

  • Very impressive collection of fire apparatus, photographs, badges, etc. Great volunteers like George and Bob that answered our questions.

  • This place is amazing. So much fun and it seems never ending. There is a lot to see and do. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We really found it interesting hearing the real time fire dispatch. There is a plethora of exquisite fire trucks and buggy’s. My son and I had loads of fun. He loved it as a baby and really enjoyed it as a tween.
  • My family loves the Fire Museum! There is informational and entertaining stuff for everyone. I've learned a lot there and my kids love the play area and the firetruck that is interactive. The membership is also affordable which makes it a nice indoor activity for weekends when you want to get out but not spend extra money. I highly recommend getting a membership, especially if you have kids!
