Create an itinerary including Oceanside Pier
A popular fishing spot, you can catch a Pacific bonito or sand bass off Oceanside Pier, and grill your own dinner at one of the shaded picnic areas complete with tables and barbecue grills. If the fish aren't biting, you can get an equally delicious meal at the 1950s-style diner nearby. At the end of the pier is the Junior Seau Pier Ampitheatre, which hosts events and performances throughout the year. Rent a bike from one of the many rental shops and ride down the pier to find a nice spot to watch local surfers catch waves--just be sure to keep your distance from the often peckish pelicans. You'll have to pay for parking; it's available on a first-come, first-served basis. If nearby lots are full, consider parking in one of the free lots on the east side of the village. Take a look at our Oceanside online trip maker to schedule your visit to Oceanside Pier and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • Beautiful spot!! Lots of independent restaurants and interesting shops nearby.. Pier has a bait and convenience store half way down and a restaurant sits at the end!!! Almost always see some type of sea life.. Rays, dolphins, seals and every once in awhile whale!!! Must see in Oceanside!!!
  • Was a little cool outside the day we went, but it was still a lot of fun. I've been to piers in Florida where you had to pay an admission fee just to get on it. Not the case here. Santa Monica pier has more to do, but be prepared to spend some money. Oceanside Pier is a great way to experience the Pacific ocean without incurring a lot of expense. The beach is nice and Oceanside has plenty of shops and restaurants to experience.
