Create an itinerary including Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum
Designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the building housing Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is as much a tourist draw as the collection of modern art located inside it. Named after and founded upon the private collection of its founder, the museum holds notable works by Picasso, van Gogh, Monet, Gauguin, and other modern masters. The building's spiral design recalls a nautilus shell, featuring continuous spaces that flow freely into one another. Wright ascribed symbolic meaning to the building's shapes, comparing its geometric forms to the ideas of infinity, unity, progress, and integrity. • I agree with others, the exhibits are overrated and the cost is steep. Go for the design of the building and works by Picasso, Renoir, Cézanne and Gaugin. Winding up from the later to earlier works...

  • I've heard about this museum's architectural beauty but never had a chance to visit here. I loved how it was display artworks inside of the building and they had fantastic European collections (even though it was much less than what I expected). 'Alex Katz-Gathering' exhibition was ongoing which I wasn't crazy about but it was still worth to visit. I highly recommend you to visit here when your legs are not so tired because seeing all the artworks they displayed, you better walk from the top floor to the lobby. Overall, I was happy to visit here to see the beauty of its building. What a beautiful museum!
  • Terrific museum— a great mix of very recent and slightly older modern and contemporary art. The walk through the rotunda is a great way to explore the exhibits, and the architecture is lovely. The line to get in may go around the block, so advanced reservation is recommended. The queues are well managed, and they move fast. The staff is very helpful and professional.
