  • Certainly one of the nice areas to check out in Monterey. The views are spectacular, and hiking is really fun provided you don't have kids with you who need a stroller. We had to take a stroller since our little one was not so enthusiastic about hiking, and it was a lot of work maneuvering the stroller through hiking trails. Other than that, it was a great hike. There is also a view of Carmel beach where you can see the early sunset. Bathrooms are clean and there are a couple of seats for enjoying a snack near the parking lot. It is recommended that you download an electronic map of the trails in advance from the website to make it easier to navigate through them without wasting so much time.
  • Over all the experience was great for many reasons - weather was awesome, trails were clean etc. However it was easy to get lost on a wrong trail as it has no marks or sign boards. Basically if there aren’t signboards, do not embark on that trail (specially narrow ones). If you want to try the skyline trail, start from the parking itself rather than doing the whole iris trail and trying to merge to Skyline (we made this mistake, never made it to skyline end 😔) And yeah; word of caution for poisonous Oaks, cover yourself with long sleeves and full length track panos or jogger’s. Trail at Jacks peak park are a must; prepare well, carry extra drinking water and some snacks. And yea most of the trails starts downwards and there is more of climb while returning. Happy tracking, hiking 😀😎
