Cartoonist Hank Ketcham designed Dennis the Menace Park, which opened in 1956. Features include a 1924 locomotive steam engine, a maze made of small hedges, a rock tunnel, and a skateboard area. Kids can also play on swings, slides, climbing walls, and a bouncing bridge. Toddlers have their own fenced-in play area. Picnic at one of the few tables or near the duck pond under weeping willows, but watch for seagulls that might steal your food. The snack stand, which serves cold drinks, snacks, and grilled food, takes cash only. The parking lot fills up fast. • Great polace to take kids, lots of unique play places, but a bit of love will go a long way. Fill in the puddles, and pull the weeds.

  • This is a great playground, both expansive and clean. Very nice. It's all in excellent shape and there are fun paddle boats on the lake nearby. Lovely views too. Great for a wide range of age kids.

  • My kids, 7,5,&3, love coming to this park. It has a little bit of everything and clean restrooms! There is a rock climbing wall, a suspension bridge , water fountain, various things to climb on, a boat/water play area for smaller kiddos, two very large play structures, a roller slide, a small hedge maze with a lookout tower, and this rotating/spinning play structure that is like a crazy and modern take on a merry-go-round. There are also a few swings. Beyond the playground itself, there is a small pond with paddle boats for rental, picnic tables, and a small skate park. The entire playground area is fenced with only 1 gate for entrance and exit. This definitely helps ease anxiety for those with a runner or multiple kids since it helps to keep them contained. Majority of the play area is covered with mulch with the exception being some of the areas around the actual play structures and slides. Mainly the areas where a more traumatic fall would occur, there is the rubbery, flat material. There is a decent amount of parking but only a small bike rack. I imagine parking may be harder when there is a ball game happening at the attached ball field. However, there would most likely be plenty of street parking. Overall a wonderful playground for all ages.
  • Great playground! Has a gate and it says it doesn't open until 10. They opened the gate around 9:15. You can tell the playground is older and still a lot of fun. It is well taken care of, there were people in there fixing things before they opened the gates.
