Create an itinerary including The Getty Villa
Check out the only ancient life-size Greek bronze statues that survive in the modern world, titled Victorious Youth, at The Getty Villa. The Villa of the Papyri at Herculaneum inspired the museum's classical architecture and landscaping. The villa has a vast library and enormous collection of works from Greek, Roman, and Etruscan civilizations. You can view 44,000 antiques dating as far back as 6,500 BCE. After you have examined the historical sculptures and other installations in the villa's gallery, take a walk through its gardens in the main courtyard and try the Mediterranean food at the cafe. • I went specifically to see a special exhibit of Assyrian artifacts, but found the entire collection to be just as interesting. It was a wonderful way to spend my afternoon.

  • Amazing place with valuable antique collection and very well organized introduction. Visited with my children, they enjoyed everything in there. Is is really very touching that not only entrance is free, but also they give you freedom to go around to explore and enjoy everything. ( nothing to campers with Hearst Castle visit). The architecture is beautiful, tasteful decor and you are free to organize your special day photo shopping. Greatest place to visit. P.S. You need to “book” your spot in advance online, make sure to include everyone ( even infants), and yes it’s free, you only pay $15 parking fee online or in the place. Parking is very safe and well organized, elevators are in every level.
  • So glad we tried this place. The best surprise was how good the Cafe food was. They have legit chefs and really good food choices. I highly recommend visiting this museum if you get the chance. Get a reservation for entry and pay for parking online. Plan for at least 2 hours to enjoy the place. If you catch it on a sunny day sit outside for lunch and enjoy the beauty of this place. Lots of people from all over visiting and really nice workers too. California has the best weather and high end places to visit. Don't forget to visit the big Getty Museum in LA as well. That one plan an entire day to see everything it has inside tho. This Getty Villa is much smaller scale compared to the big Getty.
