Take a look at a writer's creative space at The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, offering short tours of the house once occupied by the Nobel Prize-winning artist. Hemingway wrote some of his best works here, including the classics "The Snows of Kilimanjaro," "To Have and Have Not," and "Green Hills of Africa." Originally built in 1851 in the Spanish Colonial estate style, the house is 5 m (16 ft) above sea level, making it one of the highest sites on the entire island. Descendants of Hemingway's famous polydactyl cats (with six or more toes per paw) still roam the estate. Take a walk through the tropical garden, where the writer often entertained friends, or head inside to see Hemingway's writing desk, where he typed out the first drafts of many of his short stories and novels. The tour guide was very entertaining. I loved the number of cats residing on the premises. They're all so sweet and one can easily walk up to them and pet them. Some of them are even putting on a pretty good show. I don't know if they've been trained so well or if they're just so smart. The house itself is kept in decent condition and pretty nice book store they have at the end of the tour. Good place to see at least once in a lifetime.

A fun and entertaining tour every 30 minutes. The home is beautiful and has all the charm a person could expect. After the tour you can explore the home on your own and relax outside. The house is full of six-toed cats. They are everywhere. You can pet them. Tour guides are friendly and open to questions. Gift shop a little pricey. If you are in Key West, this piece of history will delight you.
