Get an intimate glimpse into the life of FDR at Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt, which has remained almost entirely unchanged since the president's death in 1945. This estate encompasses stables, icehouses, a walking trail, gardens, and the graves of both Franklin and his wife, Eleanor. The home, built in 1826, was established as a National Historic Site in 1945. Walk the halls where this figure was born and spent a majority of his time. The home is a popular destination, so be sure to reserve tickets for a one-hour ranger-guided tour first, then spend time in the visitor center while you wait for your tour time. Took a tour of the FDR home and site and was truly amazed. There are a number of things to check out, a small fee for the house and museum and the grounds are free. The house itself was decorated...

far, far better than we expected. We strongly suggest youth and church groups should attend this site.

A great place to visit for a coue hours, or more if you want to learn a lot more. You can go to the park for free to walk around and see everything from the outside. There are nice trails to walk through the woods near the river. To go in the house you have to buy a tour ($10pp or included with a National Parks Pass). To go into the presidential library you have to buy a separate ticket (not part of the parks pass).

The home and the museum are on the grounds. Give yourself several hours to tour both. Arrive early to book a tour of the mansion so you can visit right away. Tours are limited to a certain amount of people. What's not to like. Both museum and home are fascinating to walk through. Make sure you watch the movies of FDR throughout the museum and listen to snippets of his speeches. There is also an entire area devoted to Eleanor which is just as fascinating. Not a place to bring young children. They will be bored and none of this will interest them. They will just run around and I saw many parents chasing after their young ones. Junior High age children are the youngest who should go since they will be studying FDR, the depression and WW2.
