Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area is a regional park located in Fremont, California that is part of the East Bay Regional Parks system. Before being converted into a park, the site was used as a gravel quarry. When water purchased by the public for groundwater recharge of the Niles Cone flooded the gravel pits, the gravel harvesters began to daily pump the seeping water down Alameda Creek into San Francisco Bay. The Alameda County Water District acquired the quarry after the pumping was declared to be an illegal waste in 1976.Use our Fremont trip itinerary builder website to visit Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area on your trip to Fremont, and learn what else travelers and our writers recommend seeing nearby.
The Park is located roughly between Centerville and Niles. It is bounded to the northeast by the train tracks of the BART system, and to the south and west by Alameda Creek.

There are a couple of trails that you can walk around the lakes. Not too much shade so it may be hot during the mid day.

Great gravel flat trails. Many picnic tables. Bathrooms are decent. Cool exotic fruit and flowering trees in the fruit Grove. The picnic tables in the fruit grove have amazing views, right by the water. Lots of places to get down to the lake to throw some rocks in. Would give it 5 stars if there weren't so much goose poop on the grassy areas and the beach.

Wow I'm Absolutely Thrilled we got a chance 2 take sometime away 4 ourselves and visited this beautiful place! Located in the heart of Fremont California, this Quarry Lakes are home to many wildflowers and wildlife. A Rare Fruit Grove the Peninsula contains both Native and Exotic Trees, and shrubs. The Gardens here grows various plants, Flowers, and assorted Roses, which captured many visitors to this Park. Thanks to the Restoration projects in the park, the area has attracted many Wood Ducks, Blue Herons, Water Birds, Northern Flickers, Tree Swallows, and many other kinds of birds. Definitely Delightful for a Nature Lover like me! The Rainbow And Horseshoe Lakes are currently open to the public for water contact. Fishing is allowed with a permit. These two lakes are stocked with Rainbow Trouts, Basses, Catfishs, and other game fish. Swimming, Jogging, Fishing, Boating, Hiking, and Picnicking are some of the many outdoor activities done here within this Quarry Lakes Regional Area. With just a small fee of 5 dollars per vehicle for a parking space, I can definitely spend a few hours exploring this Entire Park๐!!!
