Take a 64 km (40 mi) ride aboard Skunk Train, among redwood forest and scenic meadows. You'll travel through tunnels and across 30 trestles. You can choose from among several different tour plans, some of them including excursions, picnics, and kayaking. The rides offer optional snacks and beverages, plus entertainment like musicians and storytellers, and you'll hear about the history and highlights of the region. It's highly recommended that you reserve your seats in advance to ensure availability. If you book a seat in the open air car, wear dark clothing because soot can fly and stain apparel. Plan your visit to Skunk Train and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Fort Bragg trip itinerary app.

The employees made this Christmas train ride so very entertaining. They were so friendly and personable. The snowball fight on the way back was so much fun. We will be back.

This review is for the Rail Bikes only. (Should be listed as a separate attraction on map). These are a lot of fun and easy to use. Very scenic trip although fairly short. At the end you have time to hike a couple of short trails while they turn the bikes and await the Skunk train to arrive and depart. Going back uphill we surprisingly never needed the electric assist. The track can vibrate a lot in places so hard to hold a camera steady. Bringing a versatile mount would be a good idea. There is a small basket for backpack and water bottle but it is just out of reach while moving. Maybe they can add a basket between the seats for water bottles. I stuck my phone in the front pocket of a cooler and was able to get a crooked time lapse video. My only knock on this is they are missing a sales opportunity in the gift shop. No Rail Bike mementos like magnets, ornaments, pics or videos
