University Mall Theatres, Fairfax

Our family's favorite theater. Only 3 medium sized theaters on the back side of a mall across the street from George Mason University. Now $8 a seat since they have switched to running first run movies. Independently owned and operated. The same people run Cinema Arts in Fair City Mall. They just got new regular movie seats, not the fancy reclining ones. They have good sound and pictures. Unlike other theaters, they don't turn up the sound too loud. Concession prices are also about 30-50% less than what the local theater chains charge. The workers there are more relaxed and nice than the big theater chains. Parking is plentiful and close. There are really good places to eat in the same complex, many of which are not pricey since the University is next door. Good people. Good value. A long time community small business.

Saw Top Gun Maverick - $8 per seat and indeed, the popcorn is fantastic Had to select seats prior to going in (typically a decision we make once entering the theater but I think it's a COVID hold-over?) Staff was a bit lethargic - but oh well. Place was clean - chairs comfortable - parking ample - no complaints
