Stop to take in the views of the ocean and the canyon's steep and crumbling walls at Bixby Bridge, one the most iconic and photographed spots on California's West Coast. Completed in 1932, the bridge spans 110 m (360 ft) over the Bixby Creek canyon, soaring 79 m (260 ft) over its bottom. This "Rainbow Bridge" is part of a scenic route. The elegant concrete arch is featured on a postage stamp and postcards, as well as in many commercials, TV series, and movies. • Get out here, right now! Please visit this location and take in the breathtaking scenery. There's no doubt that taking a self-portrait is a worthwhile activity. Parking is available on the shoulder near the bridge, and there are a select few locations at which you can take advantage of its gorgeous setting. There are no railings at the edges, so please exercise caution.
  • Beautiful place to be at sunset/sunrise. The bridge is next to the famous Big Sur cliffs and you can get some great shots here. There's no railing so be careful when walking near the edge. It gets very populated so come early (before sunset) to get a parking spot.
