• Operational Security (OPSEC). All personnel (including families and friends of service members) have a responsibility to ensure that no information that might put our military members in jeopardy or would be of use to our adversaries is posted to websites that are readily accessible to the public.

Not surprisingly, that information includes, among other things:

− technical information

− operation plans

− troop movement schedules

− current and future locations of military units and ships

− descriptions of overseas bases

− details of weapons system

− discussions of areas frequented by service members overseas

− Other information that's not as obvious but should also not be discussed in an open forum includes daily military activities and operations, equipment status, unit morale, and results of operations. Any of these topics, if released in an open medium, have the ability to provide our adversaries opportunities to harm our military members.

  • What an amazing sight. You can see this from most anywhere in D.C. The pillars are 400 ft high. This location also offers some great views back to the city. It has some information scattered...

  • This is very close to one of my kids homes, so it was an easy decision to stop to see it. Of course, it is a towering memorial, so you can see it from afar, but it was impressive to see up close

  • Kinda of out of the way from most other "DC Tourist attractions" but definitely a neat thing to see. The view from its location is probably it's best feature. The monument is just so big that it's better to see from away rather than right under
  • Air Force has always been my favorite branch, mostly because of the Thunderbirds! We saw this unique structure on our first day in DC. We happened to be going by the Pentagon, trying to get to the memorial, but it was already closed. Saw this right up the hill and didn’t know what it was. Drove up to it and fascinated to find out it is a newly constructed memorial. Really enjoyed seeing it up close and in person. Loved having accessible bathrooms. Excellent memorial - can’t wait to see it after the whole thing is completed!
