  • RIP Tolkiens (“Beren and Luthien”). I was sorry to hear that their grandchildren have funk into heathenry. The great Christopher Tolkien was cremated. Sad. That is a modernism.
  • JRR Tolkien and his wife Edith’s final resting place. The name engraved on their tombstone “Beren”- is a character from the Simarillion - Tolkien’s final story, left unfinished. The name engraved under his wife Edith’s name is “Luthien” -also from the same story -was an elf princess and Beren’s lover. Photo of Tolkien is the last photo taken by his son Michael before his death while he was at the Botanical Gardens in Oxford.
