Unvanquished City

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names.
Dedicate the 7th (Fri) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. The adventure continues: snap pictures at Ponte de Dom Luis I, make a trip to Liberdade Square, take in panoramic vistas at Torre dos Clerigos, and contemplate the long history of Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral).

Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Get out of town with these interesting Lisbon side-trips: Sintra (Park and National Palace of Pena & Quinta da Regaleira). There's still lots to do: observe the fascinating underwater world at Lisbon Oceanarium, admire the masterpieces at Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, make a trip to Elevador de Santa Justa, and appreciate the history behind Padrao dos Descobrimentos.
