One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Madurai sits on the banks of the River Vaigai and serves as a center of Tamil culture.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Sun): take in the spiritual surroundings of Alagarkoil Temple and Shrine. Tea gardens and eucalyptus trees scent the air of the fields surrounding Ooty, a popular summer tourism destination up in the hills.
Go for a jaunt from Ooty (Udhagamandalam) to Coonoor to see Sim`s Park about 48 minutes away. There's still lots to do: admire the natural beauty at Government Botanical Garden, explore the activities along Pykara Lake, see the interesting displays at Mini Car Museum, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Elk Hill Murugan Temple.
