One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Madurai sits on the banks of the River Vaigai and serves as a center of Tamil culture.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Sun): take in the spiritual surroundings of Yoga Narasimhar Temple, indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, and then browse the different shops at Majesty Cine Mall. Chennai to Madurai is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. When traveling from Chennai in May, plan for slightly colder days and about the same nights in Madurai: temperatures range from 39°C by day to 30°C at night. You will have some time to spend on the 4th (Tue) before leaving for Coimbatore.

Known throughout the country as a major industrial city, Coimbatore possesses a welcoming atmosphere and a growing cosmopolitanism.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Tue): see human ingenuity at work at Sozhaiyaar Dam and then take some stellar pictures from Dharmalingeshwarar Temple.
