One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Madurai sits on the banks of the River Vaigai and serves as a center of Tamil culture.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Tue): admire the landmark architecture of Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal, buy something for everyone on your list at Majesty Cine Mall, and then relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

Bengaluru to Madurai is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also take a bus; or drive. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Bengaluru in June: high temperatures in Madurai hover around 40°C and lows are around 30°C. You'll have a few hours on the 2nd (Wed) to wrap things up before traveling to Coimbatore.

Get out of town with these interesting Ooty (Udhagamandalam) side-trips: Coonoor (All Saints Church, Sim`s Park, &more). There's much more to do: take in nature's colorful creations at Government Botanical Garden, make a trip to Wenlock Downs 9th Mile Shooting Point, explore the activities along Pykara Lake, and take in the dramatic scenery at Pykara Falls.
