Indiana's capital and most populous city, Indianapolis is best known for its racecar events and impressive museums, and as the hometown of Kurt Vonnegut.
Kick off your visit on the 12th (Thu): stroll the grounds of Crown Hill Cemetery. On the 13th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: stroll around White River State Park, then examine the collection at The Eiteljorg Museum, then contemplate the long history of The Miller House and Garden, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at North Christian Church.

Washington DC to Indianapolis is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. In November, Indianapolis is little chillier than Washington DC - with highs of 52°F and lows of 34°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Sat) early enough to catch the flight to Carmel.

Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply called Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. Do some cultural sightseeing at Monterey Bay Food Tours and Pacific Grove Oceanview Boulevard. There's still lots to do: immerse yourself in nature at Point Lobos, take in the history at San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission, kick back and relax at Carmel River State Beach, and admire all the interesting features of 17-Mile Drive.
