Indiana's capital and most populous city, Indianapolis is best known for its racecar events and impressive museums, and as the hometown of Kurt Vonnegut.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Thu): relax in the rural setting at The Sky Farm at Eskenazi Health. On the 30th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: admire the landmark architecture of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, then admire the natural beauty at The Miller House and Garden, then take in the spiritual surroundings of North Christian Church, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saint John Evangelist Catholic Church.

Washington DC to Indianapolis is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Washington DC in October, Indianapolis is a bit cooler at night with lows of 48°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 31st (Sat) so you can catch the flight to Carmel.

Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply called Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. Get some cultural insight at Hearst Castle and Monterey Bay Food Tours. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Carmel: San Simeon (Piedras Blancas & Friends of the Elephant Seal Visitor Center). And it doesn't end there: immerse yourself in nature at Point Lobos, observe the fascinating underwater world at Monterey Bay Aquarium, cruise along 17-Mile Drive, and do a tasting at Taste Morgan.
