Quieter than nearby Patong Beach, the resort town of Karon offers a wide stretch of golden sand, which attracts mostly couples and families.
Big Buddha Phuket and Apichart art gallery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Karon: Jui Tui Shrine (in Talat Nuea) and Green Elephant Sanctuary Park (in Choeng Thale). And it doesn't end there: make a trip to Bangla Road, head outdoors with The Junk Liveaboards, enjoy the sand and surf at Kata Beach, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Freedom Beach.
