Green City in the Sun

You're likely to visit Nairobi at least once on a trip to Kenya, as the sprawling city houses the country's international airport and remains the jump-off point for many tours and safaris.
Head to Utamaduni Craft Centre and The Village Marketfor plenty of shopping. Visiting Nairobi National Park and Karura Forest will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Nairobi side-trips: Kiambethu Farm (in Limuru), Wasini Island (in Shimoni) and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (in Isiolo). Spend the 6th (Fri) spotting exotic species with a safari tour. Spend the 10th (Tue) exploring nature at Buffalo Springs National Reserve. There's lots more to do: examine the collection at Karen Blixen Museum, explore the striking landscape at Great Rift Valley, tour the pleasant surroundings at Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and stop by Matbronze Wildlife Art.

Chennai, India to Nairobi is an approximately 13-hour flight. You'll gain 2.5 hours traveling from Chennai to Nairobi due to the time zone difference. In January, Nairobi is a bit cooler than Chennai - with highs of 30°C and lows of 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Wed) to allow enough time to fly to Amboseli National Park.
