South Indian spiritualism meets French chic in Pondicherry, an interesting, unusual, and international destination on the Bay of Bengal.

Chennai to Pondicherry is an approximately 3.5-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Tue) to allow enough time to drive back home.
