Bethesda — 3 nights

Bethesda is a census-designated place in southern Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, located just northwest of the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. It takes its name from a local church, the Bethesda Meeting House (1820, rebuilt 1849), which in turn took its name from Jerusalem's Pool of Bethesda. Gettysburg National Cemetery and Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bethesda: Gettysburg (Eisenhower National Historic Site & Civil War Tails At the Homestead Diorama Museum), St. Michaels Museum (in St. Michaels) and The Christmas Haus (in New Oxford). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, do a tasting at The Winery at La Grange, stroll around Cabin John Regional Park, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Capitol Crescent.
