Pune has long enjoyed a reputation as a center of culture and commerce, with many dynastic rulers making the town central to their regional plans in the centuries before the British Raj.
Bring the kids along to Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple and Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum. Do some cultural sightseeing at Sinhagad Fort and Darshan Museum. Step out of Pune to go to Khandala and see Lohagad Fort, which is approximately 1h 45 min away. There's lots more to do: delve into the distant past at Rajgad Fort, examine the collection at Pune Tribal Museum, explore the different monuments and memorials at Kirkee War Cemetery, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Sarasbaug Ganesh Temple.
