One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Madurai sits on the banks of the River Vaigai and serves as a center of Tamil culture.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Palani Murugan Temple and Sri Kottai Mariamman Kovil. Koodal Azhagar Temple and Sathuragiri Shiva Temple are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Madurai: Kalaiyar Kovil Temple (in Sivaganga), Dindigul (Thadikombu Sri Sownthara Raja Perumal Temple, Athoor Village, &more) and Badrakali Amman Temple (in Ramanathapuram). Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Sun) so you can drive to Coimbatore.
