The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Nature & Wildlife Tours and Spirited Garden. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Hamdeok Beach and Samyang Black Sand Beach. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Jeju: Seogwipo (Alive Museum Jeju, Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff, &more). The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Songdo Beach and Gwangandaegyo Bridge. You'll get in some beach time at Gwangalli Beach and Haeundae Beach. There's still lots to do: indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, visit a coastal fixture at Yeongdo Lighthouse, get great views at Taejongdae, and hunt for treasures at Jagalchi Market.

You can fly from Jeju to Busan in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry, taxi, and train. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in August, and nighttime lows around 27°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Gyeongju.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.

Getting from Busan to Gyeongju by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or take a train. Expect little chillier weather when traveling from Busan in August: highs in Gyeongju hover around 26°C, while lows dip to 26°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 13th (Thu) early enough to travel to Seoul.

One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Gwanghwamun Gate and Jongmyo Shrine. There's still lots to do: take an in-depth tour of Gyeongbokgung Palace, take in nature's colorful creations at Namsan Park, admire the striking features of Changdeokgung Palace, and walk around Banpo Hangang Park.

You can fly from Gyeongju to Seoul in 3.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or drive. Traveling from Gyeongju in August, you will find days in Seoul are somewhat warmer (35°C), and nights are about the same (27°C). Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Mon) to allow time to travel to Kaesong.

Relatively relaxed and atmosphertic, the centuries-old city of Kaesong lies near the Demilitarized Zone and the border with South Korea, and has served as an industrial center since being traded to the North in the Korean War.
On the 18th (Tue), take in the views from Sonjuk Bridge, get engrossed in the history at Koryo Museum, then don't miss a visit to Concrete Wall, then contemplate the long history of Tomb of King Kongmin, and finally make a trip to Sungkyunkwan University.
