Generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills, Custer began as a mining town.
On the 18th (Sun), explore and take pictures at Iron Mountain Road, explore the striking landscape of Mount Rushmore National Memorial, get a new perspective on nature at The Museum @ Black Hills Institute, then explore the activities along Sylvan Lake, and finally go for a walk through Sunday Gulch Trail. On the 19th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: hike along Little Devil's Tower Trail, then take in the dramatic natural features at Needles Eye Tunnel, and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Black Elk Peak.
