As the political and cultural capital of China, Beijing stands at the heart of Chinese history, buzzing with the energy of its high population density and centuries of importance.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Mutianyu Great Wall and Lama Temple (Yonghegong). Chennai, India to Beijing is an approximately 13-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, car, and bus. The time zone changes from India Standard Time (IST) to China Standard Time (CST), which is usually a 2.5 hour difference. Traveling from Chennai in August, things will get little chillier in Beijing: highs are around 37°C and lows about 24°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Fri) to allow enough time to fly to Shanghai.

With a nickname like the "Pearl of the Orient," it's not surprising Shanghai offers some of the most rewarding attractions and activities in the Far East.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Sat): take in nature's colorful creations at Yu Garden (Yuyuan), then make a trip to The Bund (Wai Tan), then take in panoramic vistas at Shanghai World Financial Center, and finally get great views at Jin Mao Tower.
