Traveling by train from Alappuzha to Varkala Town takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi; or drive. February in Varkala Town sees daily highs of 37°C and lows of 28°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Kovalam.

Famous for the groves of coconut trees from which it takes its name, Kovalam offers a long, white sandy beach on the Arabian Sea.

Drive from Kovalam to Thekkady in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or do a combination of taxi and bus. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Munnar.

Sitting at the point where three mountain rivers meet, the hill station of Munnar has become known as a tea-growing center in the south of the country.

Spend the 15th (Wed) exploring nature at Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park.
