One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Madurai sits on the banks of the River Vaigai and serves as a center of Tamil culture.
Family-friendly places like Chella Tours and Walking tours will thrill your kids. Visiting Kamarajar Lake and Samanar Hills will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Madurai side-trips: Sri Kottai Mariamman Kovil (in Dindigul) and Palani Murugan Temple (in Palani).
