Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Pantheon has been added to your itinerary. Take a break from the city and head to Catacombs of Saint Callixtus and Sentiero del Maneggio. Venture out of the city with trips to Castel Gandolfo (Lake Albano & Kayaking & Canoeing), Riserva Naturale di Monte Casoli (in Bomarzo) and Soriano nel Cimino (Faggeta del Monte Cimino & monumento naturale Corviano). Spend the 15th (Tue) exploring nature at Parco Nazionale Del Circeo. There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at St. Peter's Basilica, take in the dramatic natural features at Colle del Gianicolo, tour the pleasant surroundings at Piste da Fondo Cinque Confini, and delve into the distant past at Palatine Hill.

To find maps, other places to visit, and more tourist information, refer to the Rome trip planning app.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In December, plan for daily highs up to 57°F, and evening lows to 39°F.
