Surrounded by mountain ranges, forests, valleys, beaches, and deserts, the metropolitan area of Los Angeles is home to over 17 million people.
The Getty Center and Los Angeles County Museum of Art will appeal to museum buffs. You'll get in some beach time at Venice Beach and Boardwalk and Santa Monica State Beach. Get out of town with these interesting Los Angeles side-trips: Beverly Hills (Rodeo Drive & Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation), Malibu (Surfrider Beach, Nicholas Canyon Beach, &more) and Santa Monica (Santa Monica Farmers Market & Bergamot Station). There's still lots to do: take a stroll through Montana Avenue, make a trip to Two Rodeo Drive, get a taste of the local shopping with Abbot Kinney Boulevard, and see the sky in a new way at Griffith Observatory.

Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Ferry Building Marketplace and Union Square. Get some cultural insight at Alcatraz Island and City Lights Booksellers.
