Nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz in the heart of the Jungfrau region, Interlaken became popular for its proximity to the mountains and lakes of the Bernese Oberland region.
Step off the beaten path and head to Lauterbrunnen Valley Waterfalls and Wooden Bridge from Rapperswil to Hurden. Do some cultural sightseeing at Ballenberg, Swiss Open-Air Museum and Fondation Beyeler. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Interlaken: Lucerne (Jesuitenkirche, The Rosengart Collection, &more), Giessbachfälle (in Brienz) and Aare Gorge (in Meiringen). Next up on the itinerary: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Harderkulm, admire the verdant scenery at Lauterbrunnen Village, see the interesting displays at Basel Paper Mill Museum, and contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Brienz.

Best known as home the Matterhorn mountain, Zermatt serves as a chic ski resort town of the Swiss Alps.
Matterhorn Museum - Zermatlantis and Mountaineers' Cemetery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Bring the kids along to Gornergrat and Matterhorn Diamonds Ski School. Venture out of the city with trips to Chateau de Tourbillon (in Sion), Fondation Pierre Gianadda (in Martigny) and Les Mines De Sel De Bex (in Bex).
