Interlaken

— 7 nights
Nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz in the heart of the Jungfrau region, Interlaken became popular for its proximity to the mountains and lakes of the Bernese Oberland region.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Harderkulm and Wooden Bridge from Rapperswil to Hurden. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Lauterbrunnen Valley Waterfalls and Fondation Beyeler. Venture out of the city with trips to Lausanne (Musee de l'Elysee, Collection de l'Art Brut, &more), Basel (Basel's Old Town, Basel Paper Mill Museum, &more) and Parc de l'Independance (in Morges). There's much more to do: fly like a bird with a parasailing or paragliding tour, take in the dramatic natural features at Glacier Garden (Gletschergarten), admire the verdant scenery at Lauterbrunnen Village, and explore the activities along Lake Brienz.

For more things to do, photos, reviews, and other tourist information, you can read our Interlaken visit planning website.

Washington, USA to Interlaken is an approximately 18-hour combination of flight and car. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 6 hours traveling from Washington to Interlaken. When traveling from Washington in April, plan for little chillier days and about the same nights in Interlaken: temperatures range from 58°F by day to 39°F at night. On the 29th (Thu), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Zermatt.
