Taj City

Tourism in Agra revolves around two words: Taj Mahal.
Get some cultural insight at Taj Mahal and Taj Museum. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity and Taj Gallery. There's much more to do: explore the historical opulence of Agra Fort, admire the landmark architecture of Jahangir Mahal, and don't miss a visit to Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah.

Leh — 4 nights

The former capital of the Kingdom of Ladakh, Leh possesses a historic old town area marked by stupas, monasteries, and traditional mud-brick houses.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Shanti Stupa and Likir Gompa. Do some cultural sightseeing at Alchi Monastery and Spituk Monastery. There's lots more to do: take a memorable drive along Khardung La, examine the collection at Hall of Fame, take in the spiritual surroundings of Gurudwara Shri Pathar Sahib, and relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour.

Traveling by combination of train and flight from Agra to Leh takes 9.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Wed) to allow time to fly to Jaipur.

Pink City

Known as the "Pink City" because of the color of the stone used for many of its notable structures, Jaipur draws visitors with its chaotic street life and a slew of colorful bazaars selling everything from handmade pottery to tie-dye scarves.
Kick off your visit on the 20th (Thu): admire the striking features of Hawa Mahal - Palace of Wind, step into the grandiose world of Amber Palace, and then look for gifts at Royal Spices And Tea. On the next day, take an in-depth tour of City Palace of Jaipur, then see the sky in a new way at Jantar Mantar - Jaipur, then examine the collection at Amrapali Museum, and finally examine the collection at Jaipur Wax Museum.

You can fly from Leh to Jaipur in 5.5 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. In May, daily temperatures in Jaipur can reach 106°F, while at night they dip to 81°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 21st (Fri) early enough to catch the flight to Gangtok.

Gangtok — 2 nights

Situated in the eastern Himalayan range, state capital Gangtok combines a modern, resort town style with ancient spiritual beliefs and an impressive natural heritage.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Sat): don't miss a visit to Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple. On the next day, don't miss a visit to Hanuman Tok, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Enchey Monastery, and then take a stroll through MG Marg.

Fly from Jaipur to Gangtok in 6 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train and taxi. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Sun) early enough to drive to Darjeeling.

Queen of the Hills

The train, the tea, and the hills bring visitors to Darjeeling, one of India's most famous and well-preserved Raj-era hill stations.
