The Port of the Moon
With a long history of producing regional wines since the Romans brought grapevines here during the first century, so many people consider Bordeaux to be the wine capital of the world.Place de la Bourse and La Cite du Vin are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bordeaux: Rochefort (Musee National de la Marine, Association Hermione-La Fayette, &more), La Rochelle (Towers of La Rochelle, Vieux Port, &more) and Saint-Emilion (Chateau Cadet-Bon, Chateau Laniote, &more). There's lots more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Andre Cathedral, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Tour Pey-Berland, admire the landmark architecture of Cathedrale St-Front, and take an in-depth tour of Basque Museum (Musee Basque).
