One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Madurai sits on the banks of the River Vaigai and serves as a center of Tamil culture.
Attractions like Pazhamudhir Solai and Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple make great kid-friendly stops. Take a break from the city and head to Kamarajar Lake and Samanar Hills. Explore Madurai's surroundings by going to Sri Kottai Mariamman Kovil (in Dindigul) and Sathuragiri Shiva Temple (in Srivilliputhur). Next up on the itinerary: don't miss a visit to Kalamegaperumal Temple and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam.

Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sat) so you can go by car to Coimbatore.

Kozhikode — 2 nights

Famous as the landing place of Vasco da Gama, the large industrial city of Kozhikode today acts as staging post for adventures around the state, while also boasting some particularly popular beaches.
Kick off your visit on the 12th (Sun): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tali Temple and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Vayalada. On the 13th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: kick back and relax at Beypore Beach and then stroll through Payyoli Beach.
