Tea gardens and eucalyptus trees scent the air of the fields surrounding Ooty, a popular summer tourism destination up in the hills.
Take a break from the city and head to Pykara Lake and Doddabetta Peak. Bring the kids along to Government Botanical Garden and Pykara Falls. Step out of Ooty (Udhagamandalam) with an excursion to Bandipur National Park and Tiger Reserve in Bandipur--about 1h 50 min away. Traveling from Coimbatore in October, things will get slightly colder in Ooty (Udhagamandalam): highs are around 31°C and lows about 23°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Kozhikode.

Famous as the landing place of Vasco da Gama, the large industrial city of Kozhikode today acts as staging post for adventures around the state, while also boasting some particularly popular beaches.
