One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Madurai sits on the banks of the River Vaigai and serves as a center of Tamil culture.
Here are some ideas for day two: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Yoga Narasimhar Temple and then examine the collection at Gandhi Memorial Museum.

Bengaluru to Madurai is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also take a bus; or drive. Traveling from Bengaluru in January, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit warmer in Madurai, with lows of 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Sun) early enough to drive to Munnar.

Munnar — 2 nights

Sitting at the point where three mountain rivers meet, the hill station of Munnar has become known as a tea-growing center in the south of the country.
On the 24th (Mon), explore the striking landscape of Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park. Keep things going the next day: admire the sheer force of Lakkam Waterfalls and then take in the awesome beauty at Anamudi Peak.

You can drive from Madurai to Munnar in 3 hours. Another option is to do a combination of bus and taxi. When traveling from Madurai in January, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Munnar: temperatures range from 38°C by day to 25°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 25th (Tue) so you can travel to Kozhikode.

Famous as the landing place of Vasco da Gama, the large industrial city of Kozhikode today acts as staging post for adventures around the state, while also boasting some particularly popular beaches.
Bring the kids along to Tali Temple and Kozhikode Beach. Step off the beaten path and head to Kappad Beach and Parappally Beach. The adventure continues: walk around Mavoor Wetlands and browse the exhibits of Regional Science Centre & Planetarium.
