One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Madurai sits on the banks of the River Vaigai and serves as a center of Tamil culture.
Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Sat): take in the local highlights with Walking tours and then surround yourself with nature on Chella Tours. On the next day, take in the dramatic natural features at Samanar Hills and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Alagarkoil Temple and Shrine.

Known throughout the country as a major industrial city, Coimbatore possesses a welcoming atmosphere and a growing cosmopolitanism.

Tea gardens and eucalyptus trees scent the air of the fields surrounding Ooty, a popular summer tourism destination up in the hills.
Take a break from the city and head to Pykara Lake and Ooty Lake. Kids will appreciate attractions like Government Botanical Garden and Elk Hill Murugan Temple. There's more to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Doddabetta Peak and admire the natural beauty at Government Rose Garden.

You can take a bus from Coimbatore to Ooty (Udhagamandalam) in 2.5 hours. Another option is to drive. Famous as the landing place of Vasco da Gama, the large industrial city of Kozhikode today acts as staging post for adventures around the state, while also boasting some particularly popular beaches.
On the 31st (Sun), get some fabulous bargains at HiLite Mall and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Beypore Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: take in the spiritual surroundings of Tali Temple and then kick back and relax at Kozhikode Beach.
