11 days in Munnar, Kozhikode & Wayanad District Itinerary

Sitting at the point where three mountain rivers meet, the hill station of Munnar has become known as a tea-growing center in the south of the country.

Spend the 12th (Tue) exploring nature at Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park. There's lots more to do: take in nature's colorful creations at Tea Gardens, take some stellar pictures from Munnar Hill Station, admire the engineering at Mattupetty Dam, and take a peaceful walk through Photo Point.

Bengaluru to Munnar is an approximately 5-hour combination of flight and taxi. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Bengaluru in October, Munnar is somewhat warmer at night with lows of 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Fri) so you can travel to Kozhikode.

Famous as the landing place of Vasco da Gama, the large industrial city of Kozhikode today acts as staging post for adventures around the state, while also boasting some particularly popular beaches.

Kick off your visit on the 16th (Sat): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tali Temple and then stroll through Kozhikode Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: tour the pleasant surroundings at Beypore Beach and then take in the awesome beauty at Vayalada.

You can drive from Munnar to Kozhikode in 4.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of taxi and flight; or do a combination of taxi and train; or drive. October in Kozhikode sees daily highs of 36°C and lows of 28°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sun) to allow enough time to take a bus to Kalpetta.

One of the district's main tourist hubs, Kalpetta offers easy access to a number of man-made and natural attractions.

Venture out of the city with trips to Fun Fantasy (in Padinjarathara), Sree Maha Ganapathy Temple (in Sulthan Bathery) and Banasurasagar Dam (in Vythiri). There's still lots to do: Head underground at Edakkal Caves, take in panoramic vistas at Lakkidi View Point, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Chembra, and take in the dramatic scenery at Soochippara Falls (Sentinel Rock Waterfall).
