Seattle — 9 nights

Emerald City

Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
Step off the beaten path and head to Snoqualmie Falls and Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. Step out of the city life by going to Whatcom Falls Park and The Summit at Snoqualmie. Change things up with these side-trips from Seattle: Tumwater Falls Park (in Tumwater), Bellingham (Interurban Trail & Fairhaven Historic District) and Olympia (Washington State Capitol & Hands On Children's Museum). Spend the 29th (Tue) wandering through the wild on Discover Nature. And it doesn't end there: see majestic marine mammals with Puget Sound Express, admire the landmark architecture of Seattle Public Library, admire the natural beauty at Washington Park Arboretum, and wander the streets of Pike Place Market.

To see where to stay, ratings, other places to visit, and other tourist information, refer to the Seattle day trip planning site.

Los Angeles to Seattle is an approximately 5.5-hour travel. You can also fly; or drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Los Angeles in December, you will find days in Seattle are colder (47°F), and nights are a bit cooler (37°F). Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Sat) to allow time to fly back home.
