Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
You've now added Pantheon to your itinerary. Escape the urban bustle at Grotte di Falvaterra and Albaneto. Explore Rome's surroundings by going to Kayaking & Canoeing (in Castel Gandolfo), Cascata Grande di Isola del Liri (in Isola del Liri) and Rieti (Ciclovia Conca Reatina & Golf Club Rieti - Centro d'Italia). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at St. Peter's Basilica, admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain, appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona, and Head underground at Grotte Dell'Arco.

To see maps, other places to visit, where to stay, and tourist information, use the Rome trip planner.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In April, plan for daily highs up to 69°F, and evening lows to 49°F.
